Three Structural Brand Risk Patterns
Understand Conversion Gap, Platform & Founder Dependency, and Authenticity Mismatch—and practical starting points for addressing them.
Conversion Gap
Attention does not automatically become demand. A large audience may enjoy content without wanting the offer. Look for evidence of actual purchases, repeat use, or meaningful participation appropriate to your brand stage. Start by testing one clear offer with a small relevant audience and documenting where interest does or does not become action.
Platform & Founder Dependency
A brand is fragile when one platform controls its reach or one person must do every task. Ask what would continue if posting stopped or distribution changed. Start by documenting a repeatable workflow, sharing delivery responsibilities, and building a permission-based email or other direct audience channel. Third-party community platforms still carry platform risk.
Authenticity Mismatch
People follow a brand for a reason. An unrelated offer or a promise the team cannot fulfill can weaken that trust. Compare what your audience values with what you are asking it to buy or support. Start with audience feedback, a clear explanation of the offer, and promises grounded in what you can actually deliver.
Use patterns as questions, not verdicts
These are structural warning patterns, not predictions that a brand will fail. The scorecard helps you identify where to look; evidence and context should determine what you change. A new brand may need to test demand, while an established one may need to reduce dependency or improve repeat purchases.
